Everybody’s normal until you get to know them.
I am not sure where I read that recently, but this is one of the truest statements I know. When you take it and apply it to a church context, though, it can be a devastating indictment. Do you attend a normal church full of normal people?
Yes I do go to church with a bunch of normal people and we are very careful not to get to know each other. I can't let them know that I'm not normal and I don't want to be too disillusioned with them. That would be too messy and too Christlike.
